A Self-Made Millionaire’s View on Giving People Free Money

Richard Branson, Mark Zuckerberg, and Elon Musk have all supported the idea of a universal basic income, which is simply giving free money to everyone. With the coming of automation in the coming decades, many people will lose jobs and the government will have to do some drastic measures. But giving away $12,000 per year would cost our government trillions of dollars.

If someone becomes so dependent on what the government gives them, which is free money, it will most likely create a mentality of being a victim. People will not desire to become makers; they become takers instead. When they become takers, they won’t be able to stand on their own.

In our harsh reality, we are living in an eat-what-you-kill economy, and if you can’t kill it, you cannot eat it. It is as simple as that. Even if you accept the free stuff from the government, it won’t ever be enough. A basic income will just give you a basic life. There won’t be any room for advancements, personal developments, and even leisure.

Nothing is free in this world, and that’s the truth. How can you ever be free if you are relying solely on the basic income given by the government? How will you grow? The way things are going, a universal basic income is just a step to becoming a slave of the state. Take your freedom, and learn to fish, instead of just taking the fish.
